Animals are such an important part of our community. They give so much and ask for so little. When compassion and collaboration combine, we can save animals, support families, and build stronger community. Sue Swanson is your contact for the following six rescues she works with: 1) GA House Rabbit Society in Kennesaw (mostly bunny education), 2) Paisley's Bunny Rescue in SC (60% from metro ATL), 3) Duck Refuge at Misty Meadow Farm in Milton (safe haven/ no adoption), 4) Waddle On Inn Waterfowl Rescue in Mineral Bluff (catch, care, and adoption), 5) Planned PEThood (and KIRA Club for children, ages 5-15) in Duluth, and 6) Gwinnett Animal Welfare and Enforcement (and Pets in Crisis program) in Lawrenceville (for most domestic pets and farm animals). All are 501c3 organizations. Volunteer opportunities and donation wish lists for each rescue are listed on their FB pages and websites. You can help by donating time, skills, supplies, and money. We are thankful for Ginny Nevins who first started RAK and to Elizabeth Lietz who led it most recently. All BLOSOMS members are encouraged to commit random acts of kindness (RAKs) whenever they can. In an effort to help RAKers express kindness to individuals in our neighborhoods, the current point person for RAK, Cynthia Currence, will send emails requesting volunteers to help when a neighbor is in need. If you know of a neighbor that needs short-term help with meals, walking a dog, running errands, etc. due to illness, injury or another hardship, please let Cynthia Currence know at cynthiacurrence@gmail.com. She will set up a meal train or volunteer train if the person in need agrees.
